Dayville is a constantly growing city with a population of more than 50,000 people. In the late 1990s, the city flourished, bringing many businesses and families to the area. As the city expanded, there was still only one fire department within the city limits. In summer 2000 a wildfire erupted that nearly burned down the small town of Brickton, and caused millions of dollars of damage along the west side of Dayville. During that time the fire departments relied on mutual aid, with their severe lack of apparatus to battle the flames. The city council soon realized the need for a decent fire department, as well as a wildland division if such a fire was to happen again. Two months later, Dayville Hose Co. and West Dayville VFC came together, and Daville Bureau of Fire was born.
In 2001, a major renovation project began to turn WDVFC into the DBF headquarters. By late 2001, DBF recieved approval for new stations to be built and equipment to be updated. In 2002, DBF began joining with surrounding fire departments as part of a project to update their equipment to meet the area's needs. Today, DBF runs out of many stations, keeping the residents of Dayville safe.
